Hey tumblr family, my name is Ian Steel and I never wanted to ask this, but I need help.

I’ve been out as transgender and pansexual online and at my school since October 2014, but I kept it from my parents to the best of my ability. My original plan was to come out in July when I would have had saved up enough money to support myself and move out. However, things did not go as planned at all. On April 16th, I came home from college after work, and both of parents confronted me about the way I had been dressing and talking.

Long story short, I was boxed into a corner and had to come out as transgender.  In order to appease them, I agreed to go to a therapist in Connecticut. I cannot do it anymore. Remember how Layla said how the therapist basically not only claimed that she was damned for being herself, but that her gender identity didn’t exist? That is so unbelievably true and it’s suffocating.

I need to get out of this house. My parents are only allowing me to stay here because I have put transitioning on hold. I love my family and I know they are trying to do their best to get me “help” but I made my mind up about this a long time ago. I’ve always known I was a guy and I’m going to continue to be one on the outside as well. I can continue to serve God in my own way, by being a good man and being there for the people who need me. I have to put my education on hold because I won’t be able to afford an apartment and getting my degree.

I have a wonderful roommate ( tiresiasfireeyes) who will be moving in with me sometime around July 25th 2015, which is what I have set the deadline to.  Because the apartment will be in New York we are already anticipating the apartment to cost somewhere close to $500 a month per person. I am working on getting a decently paid job with the two years of schooling in the Digital Media field under my belt.
